Structured Rates Product Control, VP, Global Bank

London, hybrid working (2 days in office)

Our client is seeking an experienced finance professional with a strong background in product control. This role is within their London-based Structured Rates Product Control team, where you will play a critical role in the control, analysis, and reporting of trading activities. You will work closely with Front Office, Risk Management, IT, Middle Office, and other finance teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role provides the opportunity to work on complex structured rates products, including exotic interest rate derivatives and reinsurance-linked instruments.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in product control, with a strong understanding of derivatives and financial instruments.
  • Knowledge of structured products e.g., Exotics (re-insurance products), Hybrids (structured rate issuances, SPV related business), QIS (algo trading), and Exotic Options is highly desirable.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Strong academic background, ideally in a numerate subject.
  • Previous experience in people management is advantageous.
  • Track record of improving controls, processes, and adding value to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the reporting of a comprehensive daily trading P&L and balance sheet, including detailed commentary on P&L drivers, trading activity, key exposures, and market context.
  • Conduct intelligent analysis and challenge business performance, trading activity, financial resource deployment, and governance adherence.
  • Perform in-depth assessments of new transactions, including P&L recognition, reserving, deal reviews, and financial resource metrics.
  • Act as a key finance point of contact for new products and transactions, ensuring alignment with internal policies and governance frameworks.
  • Oversee financial resource and return calculations on new transactions, understanding capital, balance sheet, and leverage exposure for the Structured Rates business.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders across Trading, Risk, Middle Office, Operations, and IT.
  • Supervise and mentor two direct reports within the Product Control team.
  • Monitor key controls and reconciliations, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
